Heidi started What Iz Art in 2015. She began creating artwork that was unique. Beth joined into the business shortly after they were married in 2016 as they both shared a love for art and creativity.
Heidi is a mixed media artist and works in ceramics, painting, and other medias. Heidi attended the Oregon Potters Association Showcase several years ago, it lit a fire inside of her to try another medium. Heidi has been learning ceramics from Beth for the last 2-3 years. Heidi was chosen as 1 of 9 Emerging Artist at the 2026 OPA Ceramic Showcase. Heidi finds her inspiration from our beautiful Pacific Northwest. Her family enjoyed the outdoors as a kid which instilled a respect and love for nature.
Beth has been a ceramic artist since learning pottery in high school. Beth took classes while in nursing school as a way to destress. In 2019, Beth was given a pottery wheel by Heidi's cousin, famous artist David Hicks, rekindling her love pottery. This gave Beth the option to do pottery on the property. In 2024 Beth built her pottery studio. Beth's glaze combos are inspired by places she loves. The mountain mugs for where they live, the beach scenes for where Heidi and Beth were married and lastly the northern lights for the lights they got to exprience on their propery.
Together, our inspiration is infused into our artwork which we hope brings joy and happiness to others. Everything we make is made by hand from start to finish on our small farm in the mountains. We pour our heart and souls into each piece we create with love. Thank you for supporting our small business.
